This year, a new student named Alex joined the school midway through the term. Alex was quiet, dressed in old, mismatched clothes that looked worn out, and kept to themselves. With messy hair and a shy demeanor, Alex didn’t stand out in the crowded hallways. Most students whispered about Alex, assuming they were from a poor family or perhaps not very bright, since they rarely spoke in class and avoided group activities. The popular kids, led by Mia—the confident captain of the debate team—ignored Alex completely, thinking, “They probably have no talent anyway.”
